“All About Me” worksheets may seem a little elementary, but don’t worry, we’re not asking about favorite subjects and colors and animals anymore. Specifically designed with the Gen Z student in mind, this “All About Me” worksheet template asks students the right questions that will lead to meaningful connections and conversations with their teachers and classmates. Let’s break down the essential components of the only “All About Me” worksheet you’ll ever need again.
Playlist!
No “All About Me” worksheet is complete without some song suggestions. “You’ve got the aux. What are you playing?” In other words, the car/stereo/Bluetooth, etc. is hooked up to your phone, what song are you playing for the group? Will your students try to please the crowd or highlight an unknown artist? Are we trying to hype everyone up, or go introspective with deep, meaningful lyrics? I like to add these playlist suggestions to my own Spotify playlist so I can further connect with a song’s meaning, keep it in mind for a future assignment, or just simply sing and dance along to what my students are listening to. The school-appropriate tracks even get added to my class’s independent work playlist. Your students will appreciate your DJ skills.
Who’s Hungry?
I used to frame this as more of a “death row meal” type of question but quickly realized I didn’t want my students to imagine themselves in prison for murder awaiting a quick death. Kind of a vibe killer. No pun intended. I’m a breakfast fanatic myself, but this “All About Me” worksheet template gives students the option to give their lunch or dinner order instead. Student answers will vary from whatever snack they are craving at the moment to a seven-course meal fit for a King and Queen. There are no wrong answers! Just be prepared if you’re doing this in the class right before lunch. #hangry
Take a Selfie!
Come on, you thought you could have an “All About Me” worksheet and NOT have to draw a self-portrait!? There will be artists in every class that will spend more time on this than any other part of this template, and there will be students who have barely made it past stick figure drawings. And honestly, this wide range of skills makes this part of the “All About Me” worksheet one of the most entertaining.
Outfit of the Day!
FIT CHECK! Student style is evolving and teenagers have always embraced their sense of identity through clothes and accessories as a way to express themselves. Have students create their ideal outfits on the paper doll at the center of the “Back to School” worksheet. I like to explain this as their “cartoon character outfit”. Cartoons never really change clothes, so if they were to be animated, what would be their forever outfit? Do they want to stay comfy? Or are they in sport-mode? Will students choose to dress to impress, walking the runway? Or are they living the island life trying to catch a tan?
Public Service Announcement!
This is one of my favorite features of the “All About Me” worksheet template. What is a statement that you think EVERYONE needs to hear? While this statement shouldn’t be too controversial, it might be something that other people would disagree with, which makes for fun banter. I like to reference the “Dude with Sign” guy on Instagram to help students brainstorm. If they had a chance to spread the word about anything, what would they say?
Happy Birthday!
This is a highly underrated section of the “All About Me” worksheet. This gives you an easy way to keep track of birthdays so you can make a master list. Do you probably already have access to a list of birthdays through your school attendance roster? Yes, but students LOVE telling you when their birthday is. When you’re teaching 5 classes of 40 teenagers, it can be hard to celebrate the same way an elementary school class would, but even if you just remember to say “Happy Birthday” or lead the class in a quick song, it can go a long way, especially for teenagers!
You’ve Got Tickets!
This can be tickets to a movie, a concert, a stand-up comedy show, a festival, a carnival, a convention, a football game, a backstage meet-and-greet, you name it! It’s the ticket to allowing students to showcase their interests and an easy way to see what your students are passionate about. Use this “box office” information to start weaving their interests into future assignments!
EXTRA! EXTRA! Read All About It!
If your students made the cover of the local newspaper, what do they think the headline would be? Were they drafted into the NFL? Did they save a puppy from a burning building? Did their screenplay get made into a full-length feature film? I love this part of the “All About Me” worksheet. It’s a fun yet subtle way to push students to think about what their potential could be. Whether they choose to be a little goofy or take this seriously, this section might just highlight a goal that you can help them cultivate throughout the school year.
My Happy Place!
Everyone has a “happy place” that they can go to. Sometimes it’s a physical place, and other times it’s somewhere your mind travels when you try to escape reality for a bit. Where is that place for your students? A vacation spot? A family member? A long car ride? A restaurant? The woods? There’s always a good story attached to each of these happy places, so ask students why that place is so special to them! While your classroom may not make the cut quite yet, this “All About Me” worksheet will help you create a space where your students can feel like they belong.
